Two New Properties to Open in Atlantic City in One Day

Two hotels opening on the same day? Only in Atlantic City.
Atlantic City’s new Ocean Resort and the Hard Rock casino are both slated to begin welcoming guests on June 28.
Ocean Resort owner Bruce Deifik recently gathered new employees together at his casino to announce the date, according to the Associated Press.
“It was important for us to share this news with you directly, as the team here at Ocean, both as part of our family and as a part of the wonderful community that is Atlantic City that will continue to play an integral role in our future success,” Deifik told the workers, according to the Associated Press.
The Ocean Resort was formerly the Revel, a property that closed in 2014 after suffering financial hardship and receiving criticism from customers. It was one of five local casinos that shuttered over the past four years. Other properties that ceased operations included the Trump Taj Mahal, which closed in 2016 and is now becoming the Hard Rock.
Ocean Resort CEO Frank Leone said opening day for the two new properties will be a significant milestone for the city.
“We look forward to June 28 as the culmination of all of our planning and know that this will be a special day for Atlantic City as it turns the page on a new chapter of revitalization,” Leone said.
Combined, the two properties have brought back about 6,500 of the 11,000 casino jobs that have dissolved since 2014 as a result of closures, the Associated Press reported.
Both properties are now busily working to prepare for their openings, bringing on still more workers and putting finishing touches on the buildings. The Hard Rock, which intends to shift the casino’s focus from gaming to live entertainment, just hired its 3,000th employee.
According to NJ.com, Carrie Underwood and Pitbull will headline the opening festivities at the Hard Rock. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
The owners of Ocean Resort have also promised to bring world-class entertainment.
