A staple at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is coming to an end next month.
A Universal spokeswoman confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel that “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” will come to a close on September 15.
The comedic show kicked off on the opening day of Islands of Adventure and ran for 19 years, making it one of the longest-running shows in theme park history.
It featured the hero Sinbad and his “wisecracking” sidekick Kabob performing wild stunts with explosive pyrotechnics on a huge grotto set, all to rescue Princess Amoura from the evil witch Miseria and her henchmen.
As of now, no replacement show has been announced.
“As we continue to evolve our entertainment offerings, we will share updates along the way,” the spokeswoman told the Orlando Sentinel.
The show took place in the Lost Continent land at Islands of Adventure, which opens a world of possibilities for Universal to create something new and exciting for guests.
Universal continues to innovate throughout, most recently opening the new Aventura Hotel.
Additionally, Universal opened the new ride Fast & Furious – Supercharged this spring and in 2019 they will bring a new themed roller coaster to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Island’s of Adventure.
